International Women’s Day

In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating five outstanding women who represent Alltown Fresh. They are natural leaders who make this organization stronger and a better place to work. We’ve asked them to share their thoughts on where they draw inspiration, life outside of work and best advice for other women just getting started in their careers.

Krystal Tate

Krystal Tate

General Manager, Alltown Fresh – Ayer, MA

What drew you to Alltown Fresh?
I have been a part of Global’s stores since 2015, where I started out as a third shifter. Once Alltown Fresh opened, I decided I was ready to take on a new challenge and applied to the Auburn, NH location.

What is your favorite part of the job?
One of my favorite parts of the job is meeting so many amazing people. Over the last seven years, I’ve grown to know a lot about our guests and staff and continue to see and keep in touch with them to this day.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Other than being a workaholic..haha! I love to go to parks and indoor play places with my two-year-old daughter who is a fiery, little redhead. I also spend time exploring new places; whether it’s going to restaurants or walking some of the local trails on my days off.

Who inspires you?
My daughter, Allie. She keeps me going every single day and continually teaches me to be patient and strive to be better.

What advice do you have for other women starting out in their careers?
Be yourself, push yourself, know your worth and strive to always be better.

General Manager, Alltown Fresh – Plymouth, MA

What drew you to Alltown Fresh?
When Alltown Fresh started, it felt very new and exciting! I loved being able to stand behind a concept that no one knew about and jumpstart my career into a company with so much opportunity and growth. I really like the fact that it was different and stood out compared to other concepts.

What is your favorite part of the job?
My most favorite part of my job is being able to share my knowledge with others and working in a team environment. I enjoy being able to lead my team with the standards of excellence, while building relationships with my guests and creating a community/ home that makes everyone feel welcome.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with my two-year-old daughter at the playground.

Who inspires you?
My daughter inspires me every day to be the best version of myself. I wouldn’t be the person I am now if it wasn’t for her. Also, my father has been a constant source of inspiration for me. He’s always said don’t stop until you achieve your goals and because of him, I continue to push myself. He’s shown me that with hard work, drive and dedication that you can achieve anything.

What advice do you have for other women starting out in their careers?
The sky’s the limit. Don’t be afraid to start something new and challenge yourself. If you’re not uncomfortable, you’re not growing. Greatness begins beyond your comfort zone and don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t or won’t! You can and will!

Christine Smith

Christine Smith

Territory Manager, Alltown Fresh

What drew you to Alltown Fresh?
I really love the concept and the different offerings. The humanely raised proteins and local vendors were important to me previously coming to ATF, so it was a huge draw.

What is your favorite part of the job?
The people: working with them, teaching and coaching. I enjoy helping others grow into different positions and being able to see them move on into other roles. Being a territory manager, I also travel pretty frequently as there are many moving pieces going on all the time.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Anything outdoors when the weather is not cold! Finding new places to explore and walk around, nature trails, small towns, restaurants and shopping areas. Beaches, lakes and waterfalls are my favorite places!

Who inspires you?
My daughter. She is 18 years old and in her first year of college. Not only do I work hard for myself and my career, everything I do is for her. We inspire each other.

What advice do you have for other women starting out in their careers?
Continue to work hard. Accept feedback both positive as well as constructive and learn from it as it will help you grow into different positions. Ask questions and gain as much understanding as you can for the position you are in.

Anything that has to do with a great view. I’m a sucker for sunrises and sunsets!
