Two distinct courses provide a fun and challenging weekend for everyone. Alltown Fresh’s innovative handcrafted kitchen and market is led by Chef Joshua Smith, who is an avid cyclist and passionate about cycling, cooking and a healthy lifestyle. Spectators will enjoy delicious Alltown Fresh food and local craft beer while cheering on riders though tough sections of the course, and kids can cycle around on their very own route. Alltown Fresh and RRFCX share a commitment to Multiple Sclerosis research and have designated The National MS Society as the charitable beneficiary of the two day event.
“Cycling is a huge part of my life” shared Chef Joshua Smith, Alltown Fresh. “Cycling and cooking go hand-in-hand for me. Both require commitment, passion and energy to learn more, do more, be more.” For years Smith owned several different types of bikes and no car. He even helped build cyclocross courses in CA and cooked for teams of cyclists. When he moved to Boston, Smith continued his cycling, participating in the Pan Mass Challenge, and exploring New England towns “Not only is cycling important for my mental and physical health, I have discovered amazing farmstands when I’m out exploring and now I am proud to showcase those products in our Alltown Fresh locations. It all just comes together.” When Smith learned that RRFCX hosts an elite cyclocross event here in MA, he wanted Alltown Fresh involved. “Cycling, clean cooking and a healthy lifestyle all line up for RRFCX and for Alltown Fresh. Plus the Sykes family and the Alltown Fresh family share a commitment to Multiple Sclerosis research, so this just feels right on every level.” Smith plans to create a menu of Alltown Fresh favorites for an active food and beverage program during the November 13-14 event. Stay tuned for exciting culinary details.
Originally named the Plymouth Cyclocross, the cycling event was created in 1975 as an off-season training race for the Mass Bay Road Club and Bill Sykes’s bike shop, Corner Cycle. Soon the race grew to host the USCF National Cyclocross Championships; Cyclocross was here to stay in New England. Now known as RRFCX, The Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross presented by Alltown Fresh is happy to be back for a 5th year at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in Falmouth MA on November 13th and 14th . The RRFCX will again feature professional and amateur cyclocross races with international ranking points on the line for Elite Junior, Elite under-23, and Elite Women/Men’s races with a UCI C2 ranking. Equal prize money for women and men will be offered for all elite races.
